Deceased Name: Ruth Kapilovich

Ruth Kapilovich, 89, Hibbing, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Guardian Angels Nursing Home in Hibbing.

Ruth was born on Aug. 31, 1919, in Hibbing, and graduated from Hibbing High School. Upon graduation in 1940, she took a position as an office assistant with Hibbing Monument Company and soon learned how to design and stencil engravings on the monuments. She eventually moved into sales management. Ruth retired in 2004, at the age of 85 after 64 years with the Hibbing Monument Company.

Ruth enjoyed spending her free time painting/ceramics, knitting and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her nephew, Kenneth Jaffee, Littleton, Colo.; great-nephews Mike Matthews, Berkley, Mich., and John Matthews, Minneapolis, Minn.; and great-niece Jennifer Matthews, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Rose (Lavine) Kapilovich; brothers Alex and Morris Kapilovich; sisters Ann Jaffee and Doris Kapilovich; and nice Roslyn Ann (Kapilovich) Matthews.

Funeral: Graveside funeral services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia, Minn., at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 14.

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Virginia, Minn.

Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
